College Head’s List
The College Head’s List honours the top UC student in each class of a Department who has scored a GPA equal to or above 3.3 and is within the top 15% of his/her respective class. The honour does not carry any monetary award.
Choi Koon Shum Distinguished College Service Awards
Two awards, in the amount of HK$2,000 each, are to be awarded to students who have accomplished balanced development in academic pursuit and extra-curricular activities and have made significant contributions to College activities or campus life in the past year. Candidates for these awards are nominated by staff of the College.
Dr Wong Yau Chuen Memorial Scholarship
This Award, in the amount of HK$10,000, is to be awarded to students who have accomplished balanced development in academic pursuit and extra-curricular activities and have made significant contributions to College activities or campus life in the past year. Candidates for this award are nominated by staff of the College.
Fan Cho Tak Extra-Curricular Activities AwardThis Award, in the amount of HK$1,000, was established through the generous donation of an UC alumnus Mr. Fan Cho Tak. The award will be made to a year-2 Mathematics student who has in the past year demonstrated outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities.
Ho Man Sum Distinguished College Service Award
This Award, in the amount of HK$1,000, is to be awarded to students who have accomplished balanced development in academic pursuit and extra-curricular activities and have made significant contributions to College activities or campus life in the past year. Candidates for this award are nominated by staff of the College.
Leung Kwok On Distinguished College Service Award
This Award, in the amount of HK$1,000, is to be awarded to students who have accomplished balanced development in academic pursuit and extra-curricular activities and have made significant contributions to College activities or campus life in the past year. Candidates for this award are nominated by staff of the College.
Luk Kwing Karp Distinguished College Service Award
This Award, in the amount of HK$1,000, is to be awarded to students who have accomplished balanced development in academic pursuit and extra-curricular activities and have made significant contributions to College activities or campus life in the past year. Candidates for this award are nominated by staff of the College.
Ming De Xin Min Distinguished Service Award
This Award, in the amount of HK$10,000, was established through a donation from the “Ming De Xin Min Alumni Fund”. The prize will be made to final-year students who have made significant contributions to the College or the University during their undergraduate studies.
Mrs Eva Wong Memorial Scholarship
This Scholarship, in the amount of HK$10,000, was established through a donation from the “Eva Li Memorial Fund”. The Scholarship will be awarded to one Social Work student who has performed outstanding community services.
Sir David Trench Scholarships
Three to five scholarships, HK$10,000 each, are to be awarded to final-year students who have shown good leadership qualities and made outstanding contribution to student activities and/ or community services.
Student Union College Service Prize
This Award, in the amount of HK$1,000, is to be awarded to students who have accomplished balanced development in academic pursuit and extra-curricular activities and have made significant contributions to College activities or campus life in the past year. Candidates for this award are nominated by staff of the College.
United College Social Work Graduates (1986) - Caring for the Community Prize
This Scholarship, in the amount of HK$5,000, was established through the donation from a group of United College Social Work (year 1986) graduates, to encourage more young students to recognize the value of social work profession in the betterment of society. The Scholarship will be awarded to one Social Work student who has performed outstanding community services and who was recommended by the Department of Social Work, CUHK for the award.
United College Dr Tse Yuen Man Memorial Scholarships
Three scholarships of HK$10,000 each, were established to encourage more young medical students to continue the vision of Dr. Tse Yuen Man, a graduate of United College and a great fighter against SARS, in utilizing her knowledge to cure suffering and save lives.
United College Ming De Scholarship
This Scholarship, in the amount of HK$50,000, was established by the College to honour a UC student for having achieved academic excellence, manifested leadership ability as well as performed outstanding services to the College and the Community at large during his/her tenure at the University. The recipient will additionally be honoured with a public citation at the College’s Anniversary Ceremony and a permanent record of his/her accomplishments will be kept in the College archives.
United College Xin Min ScholarshipThis Scholarship, in the amount of HK$50,000, was established by the College to honour a UC student who has performed the best service for the benefit of the College and the community throughout his/her University study while at the same time demonstrating a capability for sustained academic advancement. The recipient will additionally be honoured with a public citation at the College’s Anniversary Ceremony and a permanent record of his/her accomplishments will be kept in the College archives.
Chiap Hua Iron and Steel Works Ltd Physical Education PrizeThis Prize, in the amount of HK$1,000, is to be awarded to students who have made significant contributions towards the promotion of on-campus sports activities.
Gallant Ho Physical Education PrizeThis Prize, in the amount of HK$1,000, is to be awarded to students who have made significant contributions towards the promotion of on-campus sports activities.
Mr Ho Kin Yeung Outstanding Athlete Awards Two awards, in the amount of HK$5,000 each, are to be awarded to UC students who have demonstrated exceptional athletic and sports abilities.
Mr Yip Lau Yan Sportsmanship AwardThis Award, in the amount of HK$1,000, is to be awarded to a UC student with outstanding performance at inter-college or inter-university sports competitions.
Mrs Rebecca Ho Physical Education PrizeThis Prize, in the amount of HK$1,000, is to be awarded to students who have made significant contributions towards the promotion of on-campus sports activities.
United College Outstanding Sports Service AwardsFive prizes, in the amount of HK$1,000 each, are to be awarded to students who have made significant contributions towards the promotion of on-campus sports activities.
United College Outstanding Sports Team AwardsThree prizes, in the amount of HK$5,000 each, will be awarded to UC sports teams that have won championship in inter-college sports competitions.
United College Outstanding Track and Field Athlete AwardThis Award, in the amount of HK$1,000, is to be awarded to a UC student with outstanding performance in track and field at inter-college or inter-university sports competitions.
United College Record-breaking Athletic AwardsFifteen prizes, in the amount of HK$1,000 each, are to be awarded to students who have made new records in swimming gala, athletics meet or inter-college sports competitions.
Wu Sai Wing The Most Valuable Athlete AwardThis Award, in the amount of HK$10,000, is to be awarded to a UC student who has demonstrated exceptional athletic and sports abilities during the year.
Fung Ping Fan ScholarshipsTwo scholarships, in the amount of HK$50,000 each, were established with the donation from the family of Sir Kenneth Fung Ping Fan in his memory, to support final-year students of United College in pursuit of whole person development along the five core areas: ethical and moral, intellectual, physical, social and interpersonal and aesthetic. These scholarships may be used for postgraduate studies, for participation in international events or as seed money to start creative entrepreneurial projects.
Head of College Creativity PrizeThis Prize, in the amount of HK$1,500, was established through a generous donation of the Head of United College to promote student interest in creative projects. The prize will be awarded to students who have demonstrated good creativity in an academic paper, research report, literary or musical composition, work of art or scientific invention completed within the last 12 months.
Koo Ley Lan ScholarshipsTwo scholarships, in the amount of HK$15,000 each, are to be awarded to the best performers in the HK Preliminary Selection Contest organized annually by the International Mathematical Olympiad.
Wang Teh-chao Memorial PrizesTwo prizes, in the amount of HK$1,500 each, are to be awarded to students who have completed an outstanding thesis/academic paper on either contemporary Chinese history or cultural interflow between the East and the West.
Wang Teh-chao Memorial ScholarshipThis Prize, in the amount of HK$3,000, is to be awarded to a final-year student who has completed an outstanding thesis/academic paper on either contemporary Chinese history or cultural interflow between the East and the West.
CNOOC Exchange ScholarshipsThese scholarships were established through a donation by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation to provide financial assistance to United College students from Mainland China who intend to participate in an overseas exchange programme organized by the Chinese University or by United College. The overseas tenure can be for one term or for the whole academic year. The value of each scholarship is expected to cover roughly one-third of the estimated cost of living during the student’s stay in the host country.
Dr S T Tsou Postgraduate ScholarshipThis Scholarship, in the amount of HK$8,000, was established through a donation from the “Dr S T Tsou Memorial Fund”. The Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding 1st or 2nd year postgraduate Mathematics student in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, who is also a graduate of the United College.
Dr Thomas T T Chen Scholarships for Study Projects in ChinaThese scholarships, in the amount of HK$20,000 each, were established to enable students to visit China and to carry out independent research on its society, economy, culture, environment and education during the summer break.

Mr & Mrs K L Wong Overseas ScholarshipsFive scholarships, in the amount of HK$10,000 each, were established through a donation by Mr. & Mrs. K L Wong. These Scholarships will support undergraduate students of United College who are going to an Ivy League school or an institution of comparable repute in the USA to read a short course of study or join a short training programme during the summer break.
S Leung Postgraduate ScholarshipThis Scholarship, in the amount of HK$120,000, is to be awarded to graduates of United College to pursue full-time postgraduate programme in reputable overseas educational institution. Preferences will be given to those students who plan to pursue a higher degree in human-service-related discipline.
Sir Run Run Shaw Postgraduate ScholarshipOne to two scholarships, in a total amount of HK$40,000, will be awarded to fresh graduates of United College to start off their first year of postgraduate studies at recognized overseas universities.
T C Cheng Postgraduate ScholarshipOne to two scholarships, in a total amount of HK$50,000, will be awarded to graduates of United College to pursue postgraduate studies at recognized universities in Hong Kong or abroad. Applicants are preferably under 26 years of age.
GOAL Programme Non-local Exchange ScholarshipsThese scholarships, of up to HK$10,000 each, were established by the College Endowment Fund Committee to support undergraduate students of United College who are going to participate in one-year or half-year non-local exchange programmes organized by the Chinese University or by United College.
