In preparation for the new academic year 2012-13, please be informed of the followings: |
| |
| 1. |
Course Selection and Add/Drop |
| |
Course selection (for the whole year) for most of the postgraduate students will be held from 11:00 a.m. on 13 August 2012 to 5:30 p.m. on 16 August 2012 . Students should refer to the Online Guide on Course Selection for PG Students for details
According to the Regulations, ‘a student shall take at least one course in each term, unless otherwise stated in the study scheme or approved by the Head of the Graduate Division concerned’. Returning research students who have already submitted their theses do not need to select any course.
Students who commence studies after the course selection period or who have missed the course registration period should select courses during the add/drop period. Students arriving after the add/drop period should consult their Divisions on the arrangement of course registration.
(Note: New students who have not yet confirmed their online registration are NOT eligible to select courses. They should confirm their online registration as soon as possible and select courses during the add/drop period. For details, please refer to the section “Newly-admitted Students”.) |
| |

Confirmation of Admission Conditions (New Students Only) |
| |
Provisionally registered students should fulfil their admission conditions by uploading documentary proof at https://www.gradsch.cuhk.edu.hk/OnlineApp/fulfill_cond_login.aspx by the deadline specified on the admission notification, in order to complete their registration. Otherwise, the student status will not take effect. For students who will receive postgraduate studentships (PGS), the PGS will only be effective after their registration is confirmed AND they have formally reported to their Divisions. |

Access to University Information and Various Systems |

Information on Web/Via E-mail |
We shall make important announcements via the Campus-Wide Email System (CWEM) and our homepage (http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/gss/). Please check your CWEM mailbox or browse our homepage regularly. Otherwise, you may miss important information, e.g., course registers, electronic student fee debit notes, student fee reminders, etc.
The two most common reasons for failure in receiving e-mail are either a full mailbox or failure to re-direct emails to the mailbox desired. You may refer to the Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) website http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/itsc/network/app/email/forward.html on email forwarding and http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/itsc/network/app/email/index.html on general information about CWEM. If you have any inquiries related to computer account, please contact the Information Technology Services Centre by telephone at (852) 3943-8845 or via their Electronic Helpdesk at https://helpdesk.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/view/index.jsp.
New students who have completed online registration will receive a verification code (v-code) from ITSC by e-mail and/or SMS (for Hong Kong mobile only) starting from mid-July. You may use the v-code to retrieve the CWEM password at http://cai.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk for course enrolment and other services in MyCUHK. For students who are currently studying another programme at CUHK and the CWEM password has not yet expired, you may continue using the existing password. You will therefore not receive the V-code from ITSC. |
