FAQ - Unit Transfer in GPA Department
Q. I have studied Politics-related courses in other higher education institutions, can I apply for unit transfer in CU GPA Department?
A. Unit-transfer Procedures are as follows:
- 1. All unit exemption could only be formally considered after an application, together with all the required documents, has been submitted through the Registration and Examination Section.
- 2. Students could consult the Department on the possibility of granting course and unit exemptions before making application. However, we cannot pre-approve courses before official submission to the Section or provide a list of pre-approved courses.
- 3. Students can search for our courses comparable to the exempted course and apply for unit exemption. In case there are no specifically comparable courses offered in our Department, students can submit application through open-end courses in the relevant areas such as GPA2035/6/7 “Selected Topics in Public Administration” and GPA2140/1/2 “Case Study in Comparative Government”.
- 4. In evaluating the application, factors including the status of the institution offering the course, the level of the course, the grade achieved, would be taken into consideration.
- 5. Students cannot apply for course exemption of the same course studied in our Department before. They also cannot take the exempted course afterward.
- 6. Students must complete at least two-thirds of their major / minor (if applicable) units in this University.

政政學分豁免FAQ
Q. 我曾於其他高等院校修讀有關政治的課程，請問可否於中大的政政系申請學分豁免？
A. 學分豁免程序如下︰
- 1. 所有學分豁免申請必須向註冊及考試組遞交所需文件後，方會被正式審核。
- 2. 學生可先向本系查詢擬申請學分豁免之課程會否獲考慮，但本系並不會於學生向註冊及考試組提出正式申請前，便預先批准有關課程的學分豁免。
- 3. 學生可於本系尋找與擬申請科目相似的課程而提出學分豁免申請；假若學生未能從本系找到指定的相似課程，可嘗透過較具彈性的相關課程如GPA2035/6/7「公共行政專題」及GPA2140/1/2「比較政府個案研究」而提出申請。
- 4. 於審核過程中，有關院校的地位、有關課程的程度和所獲取成績，將會是需要考慮的其中因素。
- 5. 學生不能以已中大修畢之課程而申請學分豁免；成功豁免有關課程的學分後，學生亦不能於中大再修讀有關課程。
- 6. 學生必須於中大完成主修 / 副修 (如有) 學系最少三分之二的學分。
