Professor Kuan Hsin Chi Scholarships
To honour the contributions of Professor Kuan Hsin Chi to the Department, and to celebrate the achievement of the best student(s) who has demonstrated either the potential to further his/her study abroad or that in thesis writing, the Scholarships were established.
It is our pleasure to announce the results for the Scholarships this year. Lee Yat (Michael), who is marked by his outstanding academic performance and devotion to further study, has been awarded the Scholarship for Overseas Studies. Yeung Chun Sing (Chris), with his senior thesis examining the causal linkage between civil society and corruption, has been granted the Best Thesis Award.
40th Anniversary
Our Department was established in 1970 and will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
And an Organizing Committee, comprising of members of the Alumni Association and the Department, is going to launch the following activities. For details, please download the letter.
《關信基榮休講座教授獲頒授榮譽院士》
關信基教授是著名政治與行政學研究專家，現任中大政治與行政學榮休講座教授，並熱心社會服務，出任多項公職。他於 1963 年畢業於台灣國立政治大學， 1973 年加入中大政治與行政學系，歷任大學多項要職，並參與大學校董會、教務會、聯合書院及多個委員會的工作，以及設立「關信基獎學金」及「關信基論文獎」，對 中大貢獻卓越。關教授自 1988 至 2008 年擔任中大中國研究服務中心的主任，使中心成為馳譽國際的中國研究基地，為國際學者稱許。

<<Professor Kuan Hsin-chi was conferred Honorary Fellowship>>
The Chinese University of Hong Kong held its Eighth Honorary Fellowship Conferment Ceremony on 18 May. Our Emeritus Professor Kuan Hsin-chi was conferred Honorary Fellowship in recognition of his significant contributions to the University and the community:
Professor Kuan Hsin-chi is a prominent expert in political and administration
studies who participates actively in community services. He graduated from
the National Chengchi University, Taiwan in 1963 and joined the Department
of Government and Public Administration at CUHK in 1973. He contributed
significantly to the University by serving in different important positions,
including the University Council, Senate, United College and various University
committees, as well as establishing the Professor Kuan Hsin Chi Scholarship
and Professor Kuan Hsin Chi Best Thesis Award. He was awarded an Emeritus
Professorship of Government and Public Administration upon his retirement.
As Director of the Universities Service Centre (USC) for China Studies,
CUHK from 1988 to 2008, he has led USC to become a vibrant, forward-looking
institution renowned for its extensive and accessible collection of a great
variety of materials on contemporary China.
